Everything I Know About Love

Based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by Dolly Alderton, `Everything I Know About Love’ follows the lives of childhood best friends Maggie and Birdy as they navigate their early 20s. Set in a 2012 London house-share inhabited by four girls, Maggie, Birdy and their friends from university, the group face bad dates, heartaches and humiliations, and the question of whether platonic love can survive romantic love as people change, grow, and grow up.

Most of the cars we provided were those appropriate to family use at the time (Skoda Octavia estate, VW Passat estate and the Nissan). One scene, however, required an impressive classic sports model to be filmed at a stately home and the Jaguar XK was perfect.

ITN Crime reconstruction

This crime reconstruction was filmed in London by ITN and the producers have now released this TX card. There was only the one vehicle concerned, a 1990s Ford Transit van in blue. It is one of ours.

MIDAS MAN

MIDAS MAN is a biopic about Brian Epstein, the music entrepreneur best known for managing the Beatles from 1962 until his death in 1967.

Brian was born into a family of successful retailers in Liverpool, who put him in charge of their music shop, where he displayed a gift for talent-spotting. He first met the Beatles in 1961 at a lunchtime concert at Liverpool’s Cavern Club. Although he had no experience of artist management, Epstein put them under contract and insisted that they abandon their scruffy image in favour of a new clean-cut style. He also attempted to get the Beatles a recording contract, eventually securing a deal with EMI‘s Parlophone label.

Within months, the Beatles were international stars. Some of his other young discoveries had also prospered under his management. They included Gerry and the PacemakersBilly J. Kramer and the DakotasTommy QuicklyCilla Black and The Big Three.  In 1967, he sadly died at the age of 32.

In this production he is played by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd.

The Reckoning

The Reckoning is a British television drama mini-series, based on the life of the British media personality Jimmy Savile, portrayed by Steve Coogan. It covers Savile’s career from the early 1960s to his death in 2011, and the sexual abuse that he committed without being prosecuted during his lifetime.

There was clearly a lot of opposition to the production being filmed. There was understandably concern that it would not be unbiased.

When we were initially asked to provide the vehicles for it we were actually not briefed as to who it related to and because of the concerns about paparazzi intrusion and possible demonstrations, we were often not given the locations to be used until the evening before each filming day.

Many of the vehicles we used and the drivers, had been used by us before but when we spoke to other owners there was a 50/50 chance of being refused, generally politely.

The series definitely caused controversy during its production and up to being first broadcast on BBC One in October 2023. However, from our perspective it was an extremely interesting, if demanding commission. The Designer and Art Director were very supportive and created a team spirit. That was certainly tested when there was an extremely heavy overnight fall of snow with drifts blocking access to the unit where one of only two vehicles to be used that day was stored…..the Mercedes camper.

Frank doesn’t like to fail and unbelievably managed to ram, skid and weave his way out of the moorland hills and along the miles of rural roads. He was an hour plus late on set which in the circumstances was amazing.

Meanwhile, Andrew and Stephen propelled a valuable Rolls Royce Phantom from the Wirral to arrive on time.

Amazingly, they still work for me.
